The dome of the rock, Qubbat Al-Sakhra, known as the oldest Islamic Monument and the second holy shrines of Muslims, it represents the Islamic civilization and it is the first Muslim masterpiece. Building the dome of the rock took approximately 3 years between 688-691 A.C by an order from (caliph Abd al-Malik Bin Marwan), half a century after Prophet Mohammed (Piece and blessings be upon him) Died. It is located in the area of (Al Haram Al Sharef or temple mount) in Jerusalem (Israel) and it can be seen from all over Jerusalem. The location of dome of the rock is where the Islamic miracle of the night journey (Israa and miraj) took a place and it was built to perpetuate this Islamic miracle, as well as compete the churches that time.

The mosaic from the inside is stylized and realistic and it is a representation of vegetation and related themes. The mosaic evokes an exotic garden and drawings that describes gardens in paradise. The founding inscriptions is a 240 meter long monument Kufic script inside the dome, on the exterior side, there are inscriptions that glorify god. The columns were recycled from the previous structure (before the renovation).
They look like octagon and some of them were different than the others, also some of them have crosses on them that tell that they were brought from churches. The small flat Mihrab (a niche shows the location of Mecca) belongs to the old building were first built and it is the oldest that represents the Islamic world.
In my point of view, dome of the rock is such amazing monuments with a lot of great inscriptions and paintings techniques that tells the important of Islam and a lot of people had a hand doing something in this great
