What is domestic violence?
Now-a-days domestic violence is the most common crime in the United States. Generally it is defined as a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain control over another intimate partner. But it can refer to many kinds of violent acts. Domestic violence is a violent act against any person in a household relationship whom the law protects from any kind of assault, such as spouse, relatives. Listed below are some kinds of abuses that are included under the domain of domestic violence:
 Abuses related to physical touch like punching, hitting, kicking, burning, cutting etc.
 Psychological abuses include extreme and repetitive degradation, manipulation, being control freak,

But as referred to the recent report general victims of domestic violence are
 Wife or spouses
 Children.
 Household members.
 Sexual/intimate/dating partner.
Penalties and sentences of domestic violence:
Penalties or punishments for domestic violence can be charged either as a felony or a misdemeanor, but following the conviction it varies from case to case. Listed below are some examples:
 1 year of county jail for misdemeanors; for felonies, 3 years state prison or 7 years state prison if the defendant has a prior conviction for domestic violence
 1year of county jail for misdemeanors. 3 years of state prison if there’s any previous conviction for this violence within 7 years.
 6 years of state prison for felonies if there is any bodily injury or death.

    When I first entered the courtroom, I walked in the middle of a court case. Most of the court cases were pretty straight forward. People pleaded guilty and the Judge moved on to the next case. The most interesting case was an assault because it was assault.
