Past choices have now hindered me from receiving financial aid. I have had a full time job for 8 years. This allowed me to help financially within my house hold. I helped my younger sister financially graduate from a 4 year college. Although education has always been important for me I it was difficult to maintain a full time job, go to school, and help with college tuition. Now that she has graduated I am very excited about the opportunity to advance my own education without roadblocks or setbacks. I plan on cutting down my work week to no more than 25 hours. If I were to receive financial aid the cutbacks in hours would not make such a burden on me financially.
2 years ago my mother moved back to her home country of Liberia. This will bring new and exciting opportunities to herself and my family but currently is has left me with a mortgage until she returns next year. This is the biggest reason why I have been required to maintain a full time job. I now have a roommate along with my older brother helping financially and this has greatly lessened the burden. If I were to receive financial aid I could pay my tuition and use my savings towards future mortgage payments.
I have made it a personal goal to surpass my own expectations this upcoming semester. I plan on dividing work and school into specific hours. In the past I had no time to study because I made no time. I plan on using my time wisely and setting a schedule
