Doris Is Coming Summary

Reading the story Doris Is Coming made me believe in the story. The realism of it made me realize that even though I don’t believe everything they were stating. I was convinced that the last day on this earth was here, that day in that church. The conversations they were having with one another made more since to me. The other story was a bit harder for me to fully understand the scenario of that story. Doris is left to make sense of this world. This story made a very good point from the past history events during the civil right movement in the Southern USA.
Reading this stories dialogue made me believe it and understand it perfectly. I was in the story while reading the entire thing. My imagination was giving me good pictures about everything happening in the story and all the conversations were accruing in front of me. I like the way that the author gave great detail. In the past history this was what was happening. This “Negro” student is how she was mention in this story also is another example of why it was realistic to me. We did have that happen at one point in time in our past history and by the looks of it something like that is happening to our world/ history today. The religion point of view is also another reason why I can say it’s a realistic. Many religions and own believes are part of our world as of now. Some people understand others peoples believes, religions, and language but unfortunately not everyone is ok with that. Race awareness also has a lot to do in this story. That’s one topic that hits very close to home at this point in time. Racism is a topic that many of use wished it didn’t excise, but this story is one of many that proves that our history is reacquiring again just at a different time frame in history.
