The speech called not only for Negro rights, but for the rights of all people and, moreover, for friendship and unity among all Americans. Years of unfairnes and segregation would be enough force to rally any group of people . Dr King lead the march and gathered the nation with his speech. This is undoubted with phrases like "one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers."
The physical audience at the time of Dr Kings speech was around 250,000 people gathered together in front of the Lincoln Memorial on August 28, 1963. In addition to that there were millions listening and watching on radio and television. The message of the speech was meant for all American. For African Americans it carried a message of hope and promise of a greater future. For whites it carried the aspirations of African Americans directly from his words. Even thought the speech was made in 1963, it has been carried down to every generation since.
Dr kings speech was meant to spread the word of non violence to a nationwide audience. It was not only meant to free blacks from segregation, it was to give equality to all. His message was great in structure. There was no violence only words and peace offerings that stood firmly on beliefs. It was carried on radio and was reprinted in newspaper all over the states. It ultimately touched all who listened to this lecture.
