compared to the 1960’s when he gave his speech and how much do I think has not changed. I
believe M.L.K knew 1963 was only the beginning and everyone should not settle or Gabe up or
the nation will continue to “send out bad checks”. Back in 1960’s there were protests in the
black community for example to be granted citizenship rights and stopping police brutality.
Which has not changed because now there is the Black Lives Matter campaign. In which the
protest against police brutality and inappropriate actions against black lives. Another thing that

Everyone has
the right to a free decent quality education from elementary to high school. But when it comes
disciplinary actions in the educational system for black students I would say otherwise. One
example from the article “Does Your School Arrest Students?” written by Cory Turner Twitter.
In the article to explain that black students is more, I will not say targeted but likely in counter more
disciplinary action than other students “ black students made up with larger shares in arrests then
they did the population in schools that had at least one arrest”. Meaning black students are more
likely to face contact with law enforcement in schools. Second example is that black men and
women carries the assumptions that they are not educated. And if the do seem educated then
they are acting white. From my own experience the first time someone told me that or called me
“an oreo” I thought to myself “how am i supposed to act?”. In addition, the media portrays black
people only as drug dealers, athletes, and rap artists.
