Drew Lynch: The Man Who Changed My Life

It was just another lazy Tuesday during the scorching Arizona summer for me when I heard the most influential quote I had ever perceived. My family and I were watching the Popular show: America’s got Talent. Then it happened, A comedian with a stutter was giving his pre-audition spheel and how terribly difficult his life had become. Before he was done, the man by the name of Drew Lynch said at the end of his speech, “I believe that anyone is able to turn any negative into a positive”. This perked my ears up and really made me step back and take an indisputable look into my life. I had been very recently going through a challenging point in my life on whether or not to hang up the towel on playing baseball as I had not been able to make the
team either of the years during the week long tryouts. Drew Lynch’s quote influenced me by showing me that I just need to turn the negative of not making the team into the positive and prepare even harder for next season. He pushed me to carry on farther when I did not think that I could in multiple facets of my life.

The quote that Drew Lynch expressed affected me very highly on a physical level. Watching him go up on that stage on that day showed me that whatever happens, I need to be able to push through and keep on going. Not making the school baseball team had made me feel very poorly physically. I had gained a few pounds as I had not wanted to go outside and practice anymore, as it felt no longer worth it. I was looking for a reason to change, and he gave me that reason. After that episode, I decided to take a hard look at myself in the mirror and truly decide if it would be worth it to continue baseball. That quote made me push even more intensely than ever and influenced me to make healthier decisions in my life.
