Drink A Beer: Song Analysis
One of the songs that means a lot to me was the song that they had played at my dad’s friends funeral. “Drink a Beer” expresses how I felt almost in exact words. This guy was my idol and my role model. He was more of a dad to me that my actual dad was, and to loose him made me feel like my life was going to end without him. The lyrics in this song that really stand out to me is “When I got the news today I didn’t know what to say, so I just hung up the phone. I took a walk to clear my head, this is where the walking lead. Can’t believe you’re really gone.” Every time that song comes on the radio all I can do is cry. It makes me think about how much I miss him. I know he’s watching over me. I’ll see you again soon.

“Carolina” would be another song that makes me tear up every time it comes on. My best friend had just turned 17, and was on her way home from my house when she had got in a very bad car accident. She

Helping America is a tradition in her family and I respect that. They all work very hard for our country. Every time “Bad Company” comes on it makes me think of all the troops out there fighting for us. The band that sings this song had gone down to afghanistan and sang this song to the troops down there. They’re called Five Finger Death Punch, but to my family, they are just considered as friends. My dad grew up with the lead singer Ivan Moody, and I grew up with Ivan’s little sister. The beginning part of this song catches me right away. “ Always on the run. A destiny. It’s the rising sun. I was born a shotgun in my hands. Behind the gun I’ll make my final stand.” Listening to this song makes me stop and think of all the people out there fighting for our lives. Most people don’t care about the people out there, but in my mind the world wouldn’t be like this if it wasn’t for all the people out there sacrificing their

I enjoy listening to this song anyways as it is in my native language and one of my top childhood songs. The song is about a couple who is in love with each other but when the guy has to leave for the US, they broke up. He later returns and the love is still there. This is a very cute story and I love singing the lyrics that describes his feelings for her as he was away. If I broke up and get back together with my boyfriend, I would want this to be our scenario, that we broke up and got back together because of distance or circumstances, not because we wanted this. I also love how there are english lyrics sung with deep emotion in the song: “I will be back for you.” The music video for the song is also very heartwarming and brings a smile to my face whenever I think of it. If I got back together with my ex, I could listen to this song to remind me of my feelings for him. This song is a great song that evokes strong emotions from me and makes me think about love and how strong it is to overcome lots.…

In the novel, A Tale of Two Cities Charles Dickens opens with an anaphora, about how the world is throughout the novel. A reoccurring theme throughout this story is the battle between good and evil. Most of the novel is about the struggles each force has and how most of the time good triumphs over evil. In A Tale of Two Cities, the triumph of love, the death of the Marquis, and the contrast between Sydney Carton and Charles Darnay shows how good triumphed over evil.…

“Countries are starving because of the World Trade Organization or the World Bank or from mining the hell out of the world. My state is completely infested with mining companies that are basically digging holes everywhere and are disenfranchising people in the process. When I look at all this stuff, it’s quite overwhelming. As a citizen of the world, it doesn’t feel natural, and it doesn’t feel right. The song is an observation of those things and trying to find some redemption in it. It’s so overwhelming to be completely surrounded by that feeling all the time; I had to find some redemption and to take back the definition of revolution.” – John Butler.…

This song makes you think so much about what goes on in this world. On December 14, 2012 in Sandy Hook, CT 20 children were fatally shot. The first verse questions all the actions of society “Is there a god? Is there a god? Is he watching? Is she watching? Are they watching now? If not, what are we doing? Where are we going? What are we doing now?” (Miguel 2012) But it also says if not. If not, what are we doing the song goes on to say that we need to do better as our selves. (Miguel…

This song portrays how we as Americans should represent our country, soldiers or not. We should be proud to be Americans and represent our country in the best possible way. It also shows that we should be there for each other, to stand beside each other and to do what is right. If only all Americans could have the bond for each other that our soldiers have, we would be a much better country. They fight beside each as brothers and sisters for our country and protect our rights.…

My song that I chose is Centuries by Fall Out Boys, because 8th grade felt like it was centuries long. One relation between 8th grade and the song can be seen in the line “just one mistake, is all it will take”, which is how I felt about almost every test throughout the year. I felt with mostly Bs in my classes, a few mistakes could make or break my grade, which may not have been the intended meaning of the line. "Just one mistake, is all it will take" to get you killed, well... maybe I wouldn't be dead but my grade certainly would be.…
