Have you ever regretted drinking before being the age of 21? Many kids under the age of 21 die every year in the U.S. due to underage drinking. The purpose of this argument is to make young people aware of what things could happen to them by drinking at a young age.
Research shows that if you stay away from alcohol as a middle schooler and high schooler your GPA tends to be much better than if you drink regularly (Windell). Teens are at a much higher risk because their bodies and brains are still developing. When kids start drinking in their early teens there is a 47% chance that they will end up having some sort of alcohol problem. It is much better for your body to be 21 when drinking because by this age your body can take it in and deal with it much better than if you were 14 or so. One of the biggest problems with underage drinking is drinking and driving, now if you are 21 or older you are bound to make much better decisions. Research also shows that many more parties go on in high school than you are out of high school years so when you are in high school is the easiest time to get really into drinking. It also shows that you are more into it and you may think it is cooler to do in high school because all of your friends are doing it and for the thrill of doing something illegal where if you are 21 it is legal and not as thrilling to people. If the law was 18 it would be very easy for young people to get their hands on it because they could just go up to a fellow senior and ask them if they could buy
