On the contrary, let's start off with the superb view of drug tests.
The tests can detect other issues in your body. One example of a test that can find other problems wrong with your body is Urinalysis test(Urine Test). This test can use your urine to detect Urinary Tract Infections, Kidney Failure, and Diabetes. One other example is an ECG. When this test is taken, it finds problems with your heart. This test can be helpful because drugs affect your whole body so ECGs can find problems with your heart and if drugs are affecting it. Although, what if the test is failed? Then what? A fact was proven that 7.6 Million Urinalysis tests were taken and 3.7% of the people who took them, failed. Once they are failed, it is possible that your surgery could be cancelled.Taking anything but prescribed drugs should not be allowed to be taken before surgery. While this is true, with a little bit of help and if it is bad enough, rehab, that patient can get help and be sober for his/her surgery. Then things would go well for that person if they are addicted, maybe even their surgery could be performed
then. Accordingly, everyone should know the risks and what drugs do to your body. To begin, it is proven that drugs affect Anesthesia. Anesthesia is what doctors and surgeons use to put their patient to sleep so that they can be operated on. Cocaine, marijuana, ethanol, and even heroin affect anesthesia, meaning when they put you under for surgery, there is a high chance something could go wrong. When you are on these certain “party drugs”, your body can be heavily affected while going under. Not only do these drugs affect anesthesia, they also affect how your brain and your nervous system work. When drugs are consumed into your body they go everywhere throughout your blood. When they reach the brain, they mess with the communication system and the drug can interfere with the way your body sends, receives, and processes information which is related to the nervous system. In spite of drugs being bad how can they help? The drugs that are good for you are the ones that are prescribed to you from your doctor. Some drugs prescribed from your doctor include; opioids and depressants. These drugs are prescribed and made to a certain dosage just for you. If you have a surgery, it is most likely that your surgeon knows you are on medication and your surgery will go okay. It is just some people don’t realize that and they go down the wrong path and do illegal drugs than complications could happen with their body. Now, this whole argument has been on how negative drugs are. Which is true, but there are a couple out there that can benefit your body and could even be prescribed by your personal doctor. To begin, an example of a helpful drug is medical marijuana. This drug can be used for nausea, vomiting, pain relief, glaucoma, epilepsy, muscle tension and spasm, autoimmune diseases, antitumor properties, and many more. Medical marijuana and the illegal marijuana are two very different things, but as you see a different form of marijuana can he helpful to your body. Another drug are psilocybin mushrooms(wild mushrooms), this drug can ease headaches, help OCD, and also help depression. This drug is illegal but can be used for good things. There is always an effect to a cause. One last drug that is on the fence of being good is, cocaine. In movies and tv shows maybe even music videos you see the other famous drug known as cocaine, but what is good about it? Cocaine can almost be used as a numbing substance that could be used through a needle or inhaled through your nose. Cocaine is a highly addictive drug and it seems as if not many professionals use it because of that horrifying reason. Furthermore, the drugs that were just previously listed can become addicted and could even be abused. medical marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, and cocaine are all drugs that could be used for good but come out bad. Let’s say for example, a doctor prescribes their patient with a small dosage of medical marijuana to ease their stress. Then that patient goes and abuses that drug and uses it all in one day. Who becomes responsible? That is why patients should be required to take a drug test before undergoing surgery. Patients of any doctor should be required to take a drug test before a surgical procedure so the surgery go smoothly. Surgeries are an important and sometimes required and people need to be cautious of their intakes before their surgery. "Potential risks of self-medication practices include incorrect self-diagnosis, delays in seeking medical advice … incorrect dosage, incorrect choice of therapy, masking of a severe disease, and risk of dependence and abuse"(From authors who wrote an article on drug safety). Now take that information, and think about going into a surgery with an incorrect dosage of a medicine, then having a doctor add more or not enough drugs into your body. This can be detected if a drug test is taken before the surgery and that person could be saved from being sick or possibly be saved from death.
