and job specification (Reilly, 4.2).” To guarantee that the franchise runs smoothly all employees will have specific tasks to perform under their job title. The store managers will appropriately manage the staff ensuring first the safety of the workforce, and secondly the completion of assigned tasking’s. Although Job titles might be different they are designed to work together. Regardless if you are in food preparation, janitorial services, a cook, or in customer service, there will be common core tasks that all employees will be expected to accomplish. Critical in the design process is aligning job descriptions and specifications for key positions at our new locations. Our Key Job Descriptions and specifications are listed below.
Crew Member
Crew members perform a multiple task’s. Crew members Tasks and duties include food production, customer service, cashier, and cleaning. Crew members must adhere to the Dunkin Donuts Standards. Some core standards include maintaining clean and organized workstation and ensuring a clean guest area. “Crew members work in a team environment and must possess the ability to communicate effectively with managers and coworkers. Experienced crew members may also need to train or support training of new-hire crew members. Dunkin’ Donuts regularly hires crew member job hopefuls with guest focus, passion for results, and problem solving abilities(Job-applicatioins.com).”
Baker/Finishers
Bakers and finishers primary duties include preparing baked goods and donuts for crew members to sell over the duration of the workday. This entails mainly working in the kitchen and utilizing various equipment and utensils. The upkeep and cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment is one of the most important details of the job. Additionally, Bakers and finishers core duties include maintaining the cleanliness of the guest area as well as the workstations. Bakers/Finishers work irregular work hours in order to insure that the donuts and baked goods are prepared and ready for sell prior to the opening of the work day. (Job-applications.com)
Store Manager
Store manager’s responsibilities include all aspects of store operations. Key duties include labor management, daily operations, and customer service. Labor management duties include hiring and training associates, creating work schedules, delegating work, and evaluating employee performance. To regulate daily operations, managers file paperwork, analyze weekly sales numbers, order supplies, and perform opening or closing duties. Customer care duties include greeting customers, providing prompt and helpful services, and handling customer complaints in a professional manager. Managers must ensure employees provide except customer care, as well (Job-applications.com).
Organizational Design The Organizational design goes beyond just the structure. Organizational design is the process of making the structure of the organization efficiently support its mission statement. Evaluations of the relationships between key responsibilities, common tasks, and day to day operations must be done to support and ensure the goals of the organization are met. Store managers will be paramount to the successful opening of our new locations. Simple structure organization will be the most appropriate to get started. Each new store will be unique in its own due to demographics. For this reason simple structure will give the store manager the ability to maintain and run the location based off of that locations needs. This allows each store manager to make key decisions for tasking’s, and staffing appropriately, while being present in day to day operations.
Recruiting and Selection
Effective recruiting is geared primarily to the companies needs.
The successful opening and operating of our new locations will be dependent on a qualified and competent workforce. Initially, with a large number of job openings, we will have an in depth selection process which will ensure we are accepting qualified applicants. Step one will be recruitment. Generating candidate through advertising on local radio stations, newspapers, and social media will be vital in the staffing process. The advertisements will encourage applying through dunkindonuts.com. After the initial application is completed, candidates will be asked to come in for an interview. Once interviews are completed, the selection process will begin. District managers will discuss the candidates for store managers and select the most qualified. Once store managers are selected myself and the store managers will discuss the interviewee, and assess which candidates met the selection criteria. Once staffed the store managers will now be responsible for effectively running their
store.
Training and Performance Appraisals
Once hired all employees will go through formal introduction and training for their suitable positions. Trainers and trainees will work hand in hand to ensure that the employee understand the companies expectations, and that they are capable of performing their duties to the companies standards. Not only will each employee be trained and certified for performing their job duties, they will also exposed to the duties of the other jobs collocated in the work area.
Performance appraisals will offer employees and supervisors the opportunity to know how they are performing in relation to tasks and standards. They will be both subjective and objective. Additionally, it will address developmental and training needs as they arise. These appraisals will be completed quarterly to ensure that poor performance is corrected prior to it being an issue. Objective appraisals will be based off of sheer facts and numbers while the subjective appraisals will be based off of customer reviews, shift leadership and store management recommendations and observations. Furthermore guests will have the option to rate their Dunkin donut experience online, or feel out performance cards at the store.

It sets standards and ensures managers and employees are committed to upholding the company’s values and mission statement. Dunkin Donuts will continue to "make and serve the freshest, most delicious coffee and donuts quickly and courteously in modern, well merchandised stores.” We will do this by employing proper business strategies through job design, organizational design, recruitment and selection, and training and performance appraisals. Every store will be unique in its own, and by continuing to uphold the Dunkin Donuts standards each store will be profitable for years to come
