Leadership is when you take a group of people or an organization and take it under your control and lead it. Leadership is when you take control. A leader is someone that tells people what to do. A leader does things to get work done. A person that is going to be a successful leader is going to be able to make decisions and not be biased. that are going to have a good leader are going to accomplish things easier and with more control while a group that doesn’t have a leader will be out of control and will most likely take more time to accomplish a task. A person that is going to the lead in a task is important to make sure that you get things done under control and with discipline. Sometimes in a group the leader is someone who isn’t necessarily high up in their position. A leader can be anybody who takes control of a group. A leader does not always have to be mean and stern to get their point across. The leaders that people are going to like the most is going to be somebody who is nice, but also gets their point across. Most of the time a sports group or team will choose a team captain or a leader of the team. They do this so they can have an example of what to do in drills and activities. The same thing is with a leader because a leader is a role model. Someone who is a leader is going to set the standards for the rest of the group, team, or business.
Eisenhower was an American war hero. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. With this he learned all of his strategies and the way that he would strategize and eventually control battle. At the school he graduated middle in his class out of a total of two hundred and forty five.(The Biography) It was first of all an honor to be accepted into the academy while he also performed very well.(History) Soon after he was married to his wife he became a first lieutenant of the army.(The Biography) After this he then became the chief of staff. After his Louisiana Maneuvers, he was promoted to brigadier general for his leadership in the mission. In the December of 1942 after the attack on Pearl Harbor U.S. Army Chief of Staff General, George C. Marshal, asked Eisenhower to work as a planning officer.(History) He then led Operation Torch after he had been promoted again to be the commander-in-chief of The Allied Forces. Operation Torch was the allied invasion of North Africa. On December of 1943 Eisenhower was made the supreme commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force and was also given the responsibility of spearheading the Allied Invasion in Nazi Germany.(History) After this invasion, it let to the liberation of Paris on August 25 and led to the United States taking control of World War II.(History) Then on D-Day, June 6, 1944, he commanded the allied forces, one hundred and fifty thousand,` in the Normandy Invasion. D-Day was the day that took place in World War II on which Allied forces invaded France by beach landings and coming in by sea. Eisenhower was in charge of D-Day and of the Allied forces.(History) As the Supreme Allied Commander during World War II, Eisenhower was the one that oversaw one of the greatest attack in history. He organized the largest air and sea crew ever assembled and then on top of that commanded over one hundred and sixty thousand men in Operation Overlord.(Art of Manliness)
Since Eisenhower had gone from a lieutenant colonel to a supreme commander of the army, he was given a hero’s welcome in June 1945. It is a very big honor to get a hero’s welcome from your country after war.(History) Eisenhower for two years directed demobilization of the wartime army. He took time of organizing and making sure that everything was back in shape in the army before he retired from the army in 1952. He was approached by the Republican Party to see if he would run for president in the same year.(White House)When he arrived home in his home city of Abilene to announce that he was going to run for president of the Republican Party. Eisenhower won four hundred and forty two electoral votes while his opponent, Adlai Stevenson, only had a total of eighty nine. Some of Eisenhower’s quotes about being a leader are: “Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it.” You can’t control someone just by giving them orders and they will do it perfectly. You need someone who wants to do it and the job will get done well. “You do not lead by hitting people over the head - that's assault, not leadership.” This quote is why his troops liked him as a commander. They liked him because he wasn’t physically mean to them unlike other commanders in this time period. When he was the president he led the United States through the tensions of the Cold War. Eisenhower had to lead America through all the propaganda, threats, and countries that were trying to start another war right after World War II. During the Cold War he also had to command the United States army and give them commands. This was normal work for Eisenhower since he was raised in the military and was one of the most well known war generals. He was known especially for his leadership and how we would command his troops. This is how he became a five star general in the matter of five years because he was being rewarded for his leadership. Eisenhower made a truce with Korea after the Korean war. To this day we still have a truce and are alliances with Korea. Eisenhower also formed the modern ways that we see Republicanism today. Eisenhower is considered one of the greatest war heroes and greatest commander of all time. He is especially known for his leadership when he was in battle. Eisenhower was not only a five star general to people of the army, but he was also a president of the the United States.
