Dwight D. Eisenhower's Life And Accomplishments
Dwight D. Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890, in Denison, Texas. At age sixty-two, and after thirty-seven years of service, Eisenhower retired from the Army as a Lieutenant General to seek the Republican Party’s nomination for President. At the Republican National Convention, which was held in Chicago on July 7-11, Eisenhower faced a tough battle against Taft supporters. Fortunately, Eisenhower used his wide, friendly grin, and persuaded the Taft supporters to vote for him. Eisenhower won the Republican nomination on the first ballot (Encyclopedia Britannica).
