In one section of this act it prohibits employment
discrimination based on race, sex, color, religion and
national origin. By 1975 Lowell Perry became chairman
of EEOC, and for the first time in history over 100,000
cases await trial for job discrimination.
EEOC’s main strength has been its ability to rise to
any challenges that come its way. A major influence is the
need to address certain problems in the agency. EEOC has
seen its jurisdiction expand as a result of Congressional
mandates and Executive Branch reorganizations.
