As nervous as I was when I walked into Saint Joseph Catholic School (K-8) for my first day of kindergarten, I never thought I would be able to leave after 6th grade and enter the world of middle school. To begin with, through all the writing assignments that I have written so far, I have showed to have the capacity to come out with good ideas. Thinking about possible reasons of the problem, consequences or even solutions to the topic, are all very important as the first step to begin. I felt great about volunteering at Indianapolis Humane Society throughout the whole entire process of completing this assignment. I learned that Indianapolis Humane Society is very passionate about the welfare of animals and improving their quality of lives. I love animals so I was ecstatic about working at the Humane Society. Indy Humane provide direct services for shelter animals such as cats and dogs through adoption, foster home placement, appropriate medical care and affordable spay and neuter services. Clinical placement is a good chance for nursing students to practice clinical skills, as well as experience the real working environment. However, the process of actually bringing theories and knowledge learned from university into practical application is not simple; this requires not only patience and determination but also various learning skills. For myself, after an unpleasant experience of involving an argument between a nurse and patient’s family, I came to realize that reflective skills are crucial not only for my current status as student but also for my future professional development (Sharon, 2014) as registered nurse. The reflective practice helps nurses to maintain and constantly update their knowledge, as well as construct clinical skills by learning from real practice (ANMC 2009). As described by O’Donovan, reflective is “a process of deliberative thinking, looking back, examining oneself and one’s practice in order to improve future practice” (Chris & Sue, 2013, p.4). During the school year 2014/2015, I have practised the Clil module in the Vth C class of the Human Sciences High School, for a total of 22 hours of lessons. I followed in most parts the project module and my internship was splitted into two parts: one of 11 hours, (from module 1 to 9), the second of 10 hours, (from 10 to 12).
