CSVI a - The reason I chose to become an early childhood professional is because I like to be part of the learning process and see how the children benefit from the program we provide. I believe that early education is very important for children and I take a great pride in the work I do every day. With my art education and ability to be very creative, I am able to use it in my classroom and create artistic wall displays, bulletin boards, interesting art projects, and colorful teaching tools for the children in our program. Every day we provide them with paint , paintbrushes ,crayons, scissors ,glues, colorful papers and many more craft supplies and they go to create their own very special piece of art. This is one of many activities in the classroom that helps them to develop variety of different skills they need for everyday life and I get to be part of it. I understand that as their teacher I am a big influence on them and every moment of the time they spend in the school and I provide them with loving and positive environment. Every day, while they are away from their families, they get to spend a day filled with learning carefully planned fun activities, and I am very happy to be a part of that. At the end of every school year I’m pleased to see all of our students to move on to the next level of their education and I’m proud that I was able to help them learn basic skills and prepare them…

My name in April Bonilla and I was born on December 20, 1977 which makes me 34 years old. I was born into a single parent family and was raised by my Mother. Aside from myself, my Mother also gave birth to my three younger brothers. Growing up I did my best to help take care of my brothers which also motivated me to get a job at a young age. I began to babysit for my neighbors and family friends so I could contribute money to my family. Watching children was enjoyable and interesting; therefore, I chose to take a child development course while attending High School. Unfortunately, after High School I needed to work full time so I had to put my dream of going to college on hold. Although I had a strong desire to get the credentials to work with children, life took me down a different path.…

Some of the earliest reading memories I have come from reading flashcards with basic words on them, reading closed captions on cartoons (something I still utilize to this day,) and being read to by my mother and preschool teachers. A memory I remember in vivid detail (which is one of my earliest memories) is sitting in the lap of one of the preschool assistants (Jan) as she was reading to me. I do not remember what book it was, however, I do remember I was wearing a sweatshirt and my pink snowboots. I have a picture of this in a preschool scrapbook. Another one of my early reading memories is watching Timon and Pumbaa and singing along to the theme song as I read the closed captions. My mother came in when she heard me singing the word “philosophy” and I gave her a look that said “What is that face for?”…

As most children grow up, they are aware of their surroundings and take in everything they can understand which adds to their personality and their structure of life. As a child I developed at a level more advanced than the children around me. I learned to use a computer at the age of 3 years old. I read at an 8th-9th grade level while in the 5th grade. In addition, I could handle complex situations better than a average elementary student. The mindset I had as a child unlocked new doors for me. For example, I was not afraid to try new things and accept the lessons that came along with new opportunities. Also, I learned from my parents that going down the path of success isn’t always easy. Lastly, I experienced that life is filled with…

Most children develop pretty similarly. They are born, they learn to crawl then walk and then run. My life didn’t start that way. I was born in February of 1994 in Redwood City, California to two loving parents. My parents were in their late twenties when they had me and were anxious to start a family. They had been married for seven years by the time I was born so I was brought into a very stable environment. Although my mother had taken good care of herself throughout her pregnancy, my health upon birth was not what they expected it to be. My mother recalls seeing me for the first and asking the nurse what was on my back. It was soon realized that I had a closed meingocele on the lower section of my back meaning that I had Spina Bifida.…
