Functional Area – 13. Professionalism:
Goal 1: To maintain my commitment to professionalism.
As a growing professional, it is my responsible to adhere to the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s Code of Ethical Conduct. I understand that in order to run a successful business, or obtain a position as an Early Childhood Educator, I must conduct myself in a professional way. By staying committed to being a professional I know that I have to be wise in my dealings with the children left in my care, with their families, and with staff members.
I understand that educating young children is my primary goal. In order to be the educator they deserve, I must abide
by all rules and regulations; and I must make sure that the work environment is safe for the well being of the children and adults.
Goal 2: To keep advancing in the field of early childhood education field.
There are many facets of the early childhood education field, and there is so much to learn about this field. Therefore, I am enrolling in all of the courses required to receive my CDA. After finishing my Associates degree; I will enroll at Murray State Regional Campus in Hopkinsville, Kentucky to obtain my Bachelors degree.
Goal 3: To learn to build family and community relationships.
As a professional in the early childhood field, I must be able to not only relate to young children, but to parents, co-workers, and other professionals in the community. I feel the need to make myself available by keeping families involved and informed about the programs I have available to help educate their children. I also feel that it is important to keep the lines of communication open to the community. In order to have a successful business, I know that it is important to promote what I have to offer to the community by advertising in newspapers, the internet, and via radio stations.
