According to studies, “a national average estimates between 60-70% of state probationers (Nieto, 2003) and 49-57% of parolees successfully complete supervision.” My thought are if the individuals that are doing what they should be doing why not cut them loose early. You already know who isn’t following the rules stop throwing away the resources on the one who could use the break and have proven worthy. You show good faith to the individuals that are doing what is expected. You show them that there are second chances and this helps to build self-worth and value within the probationer.
