Lighting - in this scene the light is shining in from the side, lighting up one side of her face and literally putting her in the spotlight, to mirror her being in the figurative spotlight and enjoying the attention she was receiving from her peers. This side-lighting also kept one side of her face dark and in shadow, adding to the mysterious and alluring air her new reputation demanded. Being unable to see her eyes (due to dark sunglasses) adds to the mystery as we cannot see her expression clearly, since much of our expressions are understood through the eyes. |She deals with the challenge of facing the consequences of her lies by embracing her new ‘strumpet’ label, changing her wardrobe to revealing lingerie-style outfits and acting in a seductive manner.
