“Hi I’m Ebony Sharrer. I’m here about the job opening,” Ebony said in her rhythmic sing-song voice, while standing in the doorway. Her long ebony hair, with the pink streaks, was pulled back into a long braid down her back. Her shirt was tan, she had black khakis on, and black mary janes. She had her arms crossed over her chest covering a manilla folder. As she walked toward the table and laid down the cream colored folder. She took a seat at the chair closest to her, at one of the heads of the table. She was sitting across from a bald man with a thick, burly, gray mustache. Apparently he was the one in charge.

settled on him for a moment. His hair fell into his face and his clip on tie fall off. The other person, a pretty girl with lime green hair and a black hoodie on, met the boss’s eye without hesitation.
“I’m Reginald McDuke, CEO of the paranormal investigations office. I hear you are applying for a job. Josh go get her resume,” the burly mustache man anocened.
Dismissal
The boy with the blond hair stood up and grabbed the envelope. He practically marched to Mr. McDuke, his back perfectly straight. He took his seat with absolute silence. Ebony giggled, he was so clumsy looking.
Mr. McDuke opened the envelope and absentmindedly took the front paper and moved it to the back. His eye scanned each page carefully, like each word meant life or death. Then, he cleared his throat.
“So you worked as a secretary for the company Bash For Cash.
It says your goal was to localize new high tech cars into the community.”
“Yes I worked there for 3 years. I was the head secretary of it. It was a marvelous job, but it didn’t pay much.”
“Well, you will have the job if this table splits into a million peices,” Mr. McDuke sneered.
Ebony stood up. She scooted the chair back with deliberate slowness, and caressed the corner of the table. She turned around and walked out the door.
The table As Ebony drove away from the office, the smooth wooden table in the office cracked. The crack wasn’t deep but it soon started smaller cracks and got deeper and deeper. The crack started at the corner Ebony had touched. The crack deepened. The table split into lots of little bits. Reginald McDuke walked into the office and dropped the pile of papers he had been carrying. He pulled out his cellphone and made a call. “Hi Ebony about your job, …..…….” When the call was finished the table pieces moved around. They bumped into each other and made knocking noises. Then, they stacked themselves up just like Lego Bricks. The table was unmarked, unscarred. It was amazing to see the table resurrected itself. Josh walked in just as it happened. “Witch craft,” he whispered to
himself.
