Ecological Model Of Health And Wellbeing
The ecological model of health and wellbeing directs its attention on an individual/group's behaviour, health genetics and environmental factors through continuous interaction. Good health is viewed by this model as the balance between an individual and their environment. Having unsatisfactory health, meaning their is a possibility disease or infirmity are present, is a result of an individual not having the ability to adapt appropriately to their environment.
An individual and their environment have an interrelationship. They are both connected to each other, and due to this connection, influences, behaviours and adaptations begin to develop. An individual withholds a set of genetics and other factors like; culture, religion and many more.

In this essay I am assessing the socio and medical models of health and to what it implies. The socio- medical model of health focuses on the social factors that contribute to health and wellbeing in society. When this model considers social factors, it particularly looks at the impact of poverty, poor housing, diet and pollution. E.g. poor housing and poverty are causes to respiratory problems, and in response to these causes origins of ill health, the socio-medical model is aimed to encourage society to include better housing and introduce programmes to tackle poverty as a solution. The biomedical model of health looks at individuals physical functioning and describes bad health and illness as the assumption of disease and…

If it was all genetics or environment one could say that person A and person B both are raised in the same environment and the same advantages or disadvantages so they will lead the same path in life; whereas this may be likely it is not always the case. Two people can be raised in the same home but turn out to be completely different individuals. There are too many environmental and genetic factors that help to determine whether a person will end up as a serial killer or…

The Dynamic Model of wellbeing (Abdallah et.al.2011) uses his model to illustrate how a person’s external condition act together with a person’s personal resource to enable them to function well or maybe not so well to experience positive emotions. There are four main factors within this model, personal resources, external conditions, good functioning and satisfaction of needs and flourishing. With the use of each of these factors it has given me a visual demonstration of how these are put to use and how they need to be used to achieve the end result of a positive emotion of well-being. The model builds a basic structure of what a person needs to achieve this, so for instance the personal resources has helped me to understand that by having…

Think of serial killer. Does he kill because it is in his genes? No matter what his parents did to raise him; he would have been a violent, serial killer no matter what. On the other hand, did his environment shape him to be a serial killer? Such as, his parent’s did not pay him enough attention, or he was abused as a child. Nature and nurture are factors that have come to be recognized as playing or interacting roles in development.…

Health is defined as a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity (WHO, 1974). During the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion in 1986, the World Health Organisation said that health is “a source for everyday life, not the objective of living. Health is a positive concept emphasising social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities”. Health is traditionally equated to the absence of disease. A lack of fundamental pathology was thought to define ones health as good, whereas biological driven pathogens and conditions would render an individual with poor health and labelled diseased. However, Aggleton & Homans (1897), Ewles & Simnett (1999) argue that health is holistic and includes different dimensions and all needs to be considered. Bilingham (2010) explains health in two models which are the biomedical model and the socio-medical model. She said biomedical model is an approach to health and illness that identifies healthy as the ‘absence of disease’ and focuses on diagnosing and curing individuals with specific illnesses , the socio medial model is an approach to health and illness that focuses on the social and environmental factors that influence our health, including the impact of poverty and poor housing.…

Human development consists of three dimensions: biological, psychological, and social development. These three aspects of human development interact together to create an individual’s identity and personality. The biological dimensions of an individual affect their ability to interact with the world physically. If an individual has a genetic disability like a birth defect that affects their mobility, for example, it is a challenge to interact with their environment on a personal level unless the individual has help from another or from tools of aid for mobility. The psychological dimensions of an individual affect an individual’s perception of the world around them. An individual’s psychological state determines how a person can function within society and how they view their environment. The social dimensions of an individual affect how that individual interacts with other individuals in their environment. These three aspects work together to influence who an individual is and who that individual will become.…

Health is the level of functional or metabolic efficiency of a living being.Personal health depends partially on the active, passive, and assisted cues people observe and adopt about their own health. These include personal actions for preventing or minimizing the effects of a disease, usually a chronic condition, through integrative care. They also include personal hygiene practices to prevent infection and illness, such as bathing and washing hands with soap; brushing and flossing teeth; storing, preparing and handling food safely; and many others. The information gleaned from personal observations of daily living - such as about sleep patterns, exercise behavior, nutritional intake, and environmental features -may be used to inform personal decisions and actions, as well as clinical decisions and treatment plans. Personal health also depends partially on the social structure of a person's life. The maintenance of strong social relationships, volunteering, and other social activities have been linked to positive mental health and even increased longevity. In conclusion it should be included that, in order to be healthy every single person is responsible for his or her physical condition. If people follows the rules and regulation and practice mental relaxation simultaneously, then probably they can lead a healthy life. Personally I believe, healthiness is not only related with the better physical condition, but also related with the better psychological condition as…
