You know how beautiful things are when you're traveling.” It was this quote I found while reading about one of my favorite artists, Edward Hopper. I have been to his showcase at the Walker Arts Center three times this summer, each time admiring his sketches, they were raw and true and his paintings looked like day dreams. it was the reminiscent quality that I adored about his work. It's as if he had painted the scenes through the eye of his memory. It brought me back to that time and place of the world, the way he experienced it. It's his work that got me inspired to travel this summer, I wanted to have my own scenes. Although I love art, it was a different love that inspired me to see the world. I am fascinated with Biology: the study of all living organisms. I love to go to each part of the world and see how the vegetation grows and evolved from unique environmental factors, the how animals look , and people express themselves through different cultures - all relating back to biology. I try to piece together what I've learned from all subjects, humanities, art and science to find solutions and answers to the crisis we face today. I am motivated by my belief in justice, and driven by my passion for biology to be a part of innovations in the health and science world that will move us forward. Of course, its the beauty of art that keeps me whole. Because I come from a liberal and progressive background of people and ideas that support me, I continue the tradition of engagement in the world and lifelong learning, academically and spiritually.
