It may mean in their culture that when dealing with a person of authority they have to (as they call it) “save face”. This can also happen with a person from Asia that has done something they should not have done. They are very embarrassed and they do not want other people of their culture to know. I have seen firsthand how these people act and I have empathy for them.
2 A cultural difference which can rear the emotion of frustration is when people say yes or agree with you, when they actually mean no or do not fully understand what is being said. This may be common where some cultures would rather be polite than say they do not understand. A good way to overcome this is to ask the person if they fully understand what has been said or asked of them. Get them to repeat back to you and this way you will know if they really do have an
