Effective Interpersonal Communication Analysis
Interpersonal communication is crucial in today’s Air Force work centers. Having a group of individuals from all different backgrounds can quickly create communication issues if not sensitive to communicating effectively. Furthermore, using different mediums of communication such as, telephones, email, chat, video teleconference, etc., the user must be aware of the tone of their message. Leaders must be aware of the level of their communication to evaluate their effectiveness. As technology advances and face-to-face communication decreases, being aware of the tone of a message can have adverse implications. In an HQ position, I do 80-90% of my communication via email or telephone conversation. It is important to convey the message needed …show more content…
If ineffective while communicating to a subordinate about a task that needs to be accomplished, the task could either be accomplished incorrectly or failed all together. Also, while providing feedback to a subordinate, I must be precise and accurate while giving them standards which need to be met. Additionally, when receiving feedback myself, actively listening to guidance is another form of effective interpersonal communication. When my peers and I are executing a plan directed to us from above, if we do not utilize communication skills amongst ourselves the plan could then fail and the mission would not get accomplished. Finally, neglected communication skills will lead to an entire work center to become ineffective, as an NCO I will do my best to foster a positive working environment through communication. Effective interpersonal communication is at the core of being an effective leader. Leaders are often remembered because of how they have communicated in the past, almost as a first impression; first, how you carry yourself and two, how you communicate. I will ensure my communication skills will be practiced and utilized to effectively communicate to those below me and above
