I think that a good leader has to be charismatic, well spoken, and engaging. A charismatic leader has a good personality and can make people feel at ease with following them. A leader should be well spoken so he or she is able to get his or her point across to the masses. People have to…
Outstanding leaders are often those who display distinguishing charactoristics of true statesmanship. They are not people who are arrogant enough to believe that they know everything about any one subject but instead, are humble and studious. Great leaders set clear cut and realistic goals. They are the kind of people who can see the big picture and scope out a path to get there, never waivering, with great confidence, they lead the way. They are not always the charming type but instead have a way about them of convincing others to join them or to understand their philosophy of the given situation. They are often likeable and seemingly outgoing. Usually great orators, however, not always the perfect writers, such as George Washington and not always with a loud enough voice, such as Patrick Henry.…
Leaders are everywhere in our world. They constantly surround us and tell us what to do. Leaders have shaped our history and are constantly shaping our future. Some excellent examples of good leaders are Adolf Hitler and Julius Caesar. We might not agree with some of the policies that Hitler performed, however, we can conclude that his excellent leadership skills allowed him to effectively govern about 69 million citizens. Caesar’s quick and decisive personality granted Caesar the title, Dictator, of the Roman Empire. Under Caesar’s rule, the Roman Empire vastly expanded its borders through military annexations. But, with all things foretold, what designates someone the power to lead people? There are several factors that bring about a good leader. The three main factors incorporate communication, confidence, and commitment. Anybody that decides to encompass these factors, will not only be a good leader, but they will also be an effective and a revolutionary leader.…
Every leader has an opportunity to shape some part of society but it is the skills and qualities they possess that determines how effective their part in society will be. What defines an effective leader? An effective leader must be a person of honorable character, which develops over time. A person with strong character shows drive, determination, self-discipline, willpower, and nerve. To be an effective leader, followers must have trust and belief in their leader’s particular vision. One of the ways to build trust is to display a good sense of character composed of beliefs, values, skills, and individual accountability. Individual accountability is the first requirement for success in being a leader. Accountable people recognize that outside factors will affect their situation, but they also understand the choices they make about those outside factors are what ultimately shape their outcome. When they encounter setbacks, accountable people don’t point the blame. They analyze the situation, determine what they can do to recover from it, and then they do it. We all possess individual personal strengths. Many times, we may feel that certain personal characteristics are flaws. However, those “flaws” are really only flaws in certain environments. On the flip side of those flaws, we often find our greatest strengths. Maya Angelou displays how one turns a flaw into strength, and she gives a prime example of how one grows into leadership.…

Who or what defines an effective leader? To most, this person or group of persons possesses specific qualities that are desired, admired, and respected. These leaders influence others by their accomplishments and by their positive impact they have left for others. There are many political, religious, business, artistic, and academic leaders that, throughout history, have affected society in such a way that their names are figuratively (and sometimes literally) mounted on a wall in honor of their achievements. But what of the musicians that strummed to the beat of life, in all of its colors, in all of its glories and woes? No, we must not forget that these historical legends, these musicians who sang of broken hearts, love, society, drugs, and of the many emotions that every individual encounters, have impacted humanity just as much as any other leader. The Beatles, for example, are legendary leaders and have been for decades. Their music was and still is listened to by many people. "The Beatles' impact extended well beyond their music. Their clothes, hairstyles, and statements made them trend-setters from the 1960's to this day, while their growing social awareness-reflected in the development of their music-saw their influence extend into the social and cultural revolutions of the 1960's" (Wikipedia, 2006).…

Effective leaders know that they need to do more than simply convince others to follow them. They need to effectively communicate their goals along with the goals of their followers to make sure that they are both heading in the same direction. When a leader and their subordinates share the same goals, they help each other work harder in achieving that final common goal. Good leaders are great at making change happen. They see the need for change and work with their followers in making the change happen in the future by setting real goals.…
