Many of the most brilliant and prestigious people in this world have reportedly suffered form the insidious disease of Autism. Some of whom are Albert Einstein, Thomas Jefferson, Michelangelo, Isaac Newton, and Andy Warhol. What may you ask do the following people have in common? They have all single handily made some of the most advanced contributions and theories of our time, allowing us a basis for more advanced studies today. The novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, tells a story of the main protagonist Christopher Boone as he battles many of the presenting challenges of a child diagnosed with autism. In “‘Animals in Translation’: The Cow Whisperer”, the author describes how Temple’s believes that autistics’ thought are similar to those of animals, which at first may seem mean, but it is not meant to be belittling. Temple simply relates the thoughts, sights, and feelings of animals to those of autistics. I question the validity of this statement, though, and even Temple herself said that there is no conclusive proof to back the claim, and that science behind autism is constantly changing and proving previous facts…

Autism is classified as a developmental disability that results from a disorder in the central nervous system. It causes impairments to social interaction, communication, imagination, interests, and activities. Most of the issues based around Autism are controversial because it is still not known what the cause of Autism is! Researchers strive every day to find why it is caused, but still nothing has been proven.…

After much research and thought processing, I saw many issues in that of children with autism and the vaccinations. There were many concerns that were addressing on this particular issue on the effects in the children. In today’s society, we don’t know what to believe with that of media and what they are saying to be true, but then again we don’t know what to believe unless we do our own research and connect the dots. In general what media does is to promote the issue and give ratings on the issue because we look at the numbers and percentages not the details behind the actual research. Honestly, I really despise the media because most of the time they aren’t right on the issue and it’s not best…

The debate on whether vaccinations cause autism has been going on for many years. In the mid 1980s, the development of autism showed a significant change. Instead of showing possible signs of autism early on, children were developing normally until they reached about 18 months old, and then suddenly started showing signs of autism. Most of the 30 vaccines that infants receive are given during the first 18 months of life. National Autism Association (n.d.)…

It has become a clear issue that a number of people do not want to vaccinate their children. Vaccinations that prevent diseases such as smallpox, polio, mumps, measles, rubella, whooping cough, and many others is being denied for some children. Why has this become a problem? The belief is that these vaccinations cause autism. the simple fact of the matter is that they do not. The effects of vaccinations have been tested time after time in correlation to autism and they have shown no connection. People that are not doctors and scientists need to stop taking in their own hands to decide whether or not vaccinations would be good for their child. the Anti-Vaxxers’ attempt to stop or slow autism is ridiculous. The only effect they will have on society…
The measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine is used to immunize children against diseases that can cause major disabilities and fatal illnesses. In 1994, the vaccine was mandated for all school children and since then a spike has been seen in the diagnosis of autism. Many of those diagnosis falls within a few months of the MMR vaccine and in 1998, Andrew Wakefield published a study indicating a relationship between the MMR vaccine and autism (Rudy, 2009). Intense media coverage followed and many parents refused to give their children the MMR vaccine, believing their children would develop autism. The study was later retracted due to the lack of evidence but many children are still not receiving the MMR vaccine. The public health field has tried to raise awareness about the benefits of the MMR vaccine but many are still skeptical about the vaccine. Efforts have now been focused towards increasing awareness about the vaccine and trying to encourage parents to get their children vaccinated.…

This paper is about scientific data that was done and collected to determine if babies who received vaccines suffered from autism. As a future special education teacher, I thought it would be interesting to look into the study of this. There has been a significant amount of babies who appear healthy and as they reach the toddler stage parents discover that their child has a form of autism. The conclusion is that parents believe that this is happening to their children because of the vaccines they had when they were babies. Due to this belief, there was a significant amount of parents who were choosing not to vaccinate their babies which led…
