Based on the lab data the stream water quality is fair. The biotic index shows the “degree of organic pollution”. The biotic index shows the water quality, it was 5.7. We calculated the biotic index by looking at pollution tolerant value. In conclusion the biotic index shows weather or not the water is healthy. Based on the evidence from our lab data we found mostly tolerant organisms such as we found a lot of Hydropsychidae (163) and they were tolerant (tolerance 5). Another example we found is the Chirionomidae (50) and they were tolerant (tolerance 6). One example that we didn’t find much of/a lot of were the Caddisflies we found 6 and the pollution tolerance was 2.8 which indicates to us that it is pollution sensitive. Lastly we didn’t encounter Stoneflies/Plecoptera we found 0 (none of them were found!) and they were pollution sensitive value of 1. There are lots of ways that pollution can get into streams and cause the pollution level to rise. For an example, everybody brushes their teeth, washes their hands, and goes to the bathroom. All of those toxic wastes go into sewers and let’s say an extremely rainy day occurred and flooded the sewers so the level of water is above surface and it flows all the way down to the river. So what happens is that the toxic waste flows into the water and kills living organisms in the stream because it could go through there gills and flow right into their blood stream. One more factor to rise Sheldrake Streams pollution level to rise is that there is a gold course right across the street and golfers spay pesticides on their selves to prevent bugs from coming and the rain washes those pesticides into the river harming the organisms in the stream.

The results were no different from what I had expected because Cherry Creek is man made that runs parallel to Denver with sewage running off into the creek. Some human errors in this experiment could have been the fact that we did not perform this experiment. Also the people that did the experiment could have miscounted organisms. Pollutions relates to the amount of organisms living in the ecosystem due to the fact that pollutants effect the physical, chemical, and biological conditions of an ecosystem. This has a trickling affect on the whole food web, killing off some of the inhabitants.…

In order to use CAD effectively as a design tool, the designer must have the skills necessary to create, edit, and manipulate a 3D model of a part in order to create a realistic representation of an imagined object. In this activity you will build on the CAD skills that you learned in Activity 5.2b Introduction to CAD Skills. You will learn about and use additional tools and features available in most CAD programs and apply your new CAD skills to the creation of more complex parts that will be used in later activities (as components in the assembly of parts) to create complete products (including a complete Automoblox vehicle and a Button Maker machine).…

We went to the Conodoguinet Creek to test the pollution levels of the creek. My hypothesis was If we check the pollution levels in the water, then we will find out that the water isn’t very polluted. You may be wondering, what are some of the causes of pollution? Well, the velocity of the water has a lot to do with the health. When the velocity of the water is faster, everything will be moving around more and there will more more dissolved oxygens. the mud and sediments won’t just stay there and it will just keep on moving so . Well, there are two main causes of pollution in the Conodoguinet creek, acidic rain and eutrophication. Eutrophication is the amount of nutrients in the water and it can be caused by runoff from land, sewage plants,…

    Eiffel Tower Analysis

French writer Guy de Maupassant would eat lunch at the Eiffel Tower’s restaurant out of pure necessity, because as he often remarked, “it’s the only place in Paris where I don’t have to see [the Eiffel Tower]” (Barthes 3). Wherever you are in Paris, whatever the weather, the Tower is always there; the only spot in Paris blind to the Tower is the Tower itself. The Eiffel Tower is constantly seeing all of Paris, and in return, being seen by all of Paris. Robert Delaunay’s piece “Champs de Mars: The Red Tower” (Figure 1.) was painted in celebration of the Eiffel Tower’s structure as an engineering and architectural miracle as well as a symbol of modernity in the nineteenth and twentieth…

Mostly all of the pollution, however, can be attributed to four main causes. These causes are Atmospheric pollution, air pollution, point-source pollution, and nonpoint-source pollution. Even though there are other sources that causes pollution of the Great Lake Huron, these four have been proven to attribute the most harmful of those causes. Atmospheric pollution is cause one and a major concern. It usually happens when rain or snow carries contaminates and makes its way to the water source contaminating the water itself. Cause two is air pollution and it is when waste from plants makes its way into the air from the burning of harmful substances and is then deposited into the water source. Cause three is point-source pollution and that usually means that the pollution comes from sewage, fecal matter, and mercury that comes from treatment plants and industrial facilities that are near the lake. As this matter is dumped into the lake, it causes problems because the life around the lake depends on the life that is inside of the lake itself. Nonpoint-source pollution is the fourth cause and it means that the pollution comes from a runoff of polluted water from lawns or crops that can have contaminates in it. “Water washing over the land, whether from precipitation, car washing or watering crops or lawns, picks up an array of contaminants including oil, sand and salt from roadways, agricultural chemicals,…

    Tower of Pisa

When most people try to build a tower it usually falls over. Have you ever imagined a tower that leans completely on its own. Yes without falling over. I am talking about the Leaning Tower of Pisa, located in Pisa, Italy. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is an amazing landmark because of its beautiful construction, interesting history, the monuments and the location of it. You may also walk the two hundred and ninety seven steps in the tower to the top.The construction of the tower is absolutely beautiful. The construction of the Tower of Pisa took over one hundred years to complete starting in 1173 and ending 1372 due to the multiple wars and the tower leaning soon after the second floor of construction began because of the soft settling of the ground. There are two hundred and ninety seven steps inside the tower if you want to climb the tower to the top. The tower weighs about 14,500 tons, 8 stories tall and is constructed of white marble. It also has seven bells in it which are all on the top floor of the tower. Each bell represents one note of the musical major scale. The largest bell weighs more than 3,600 kg.The tower has a very interesting history. In 1950 officials of the tower stopped ringing all of the bells because they thought that the vibrations from the tower caused the tower to tilt more into the ground. In 1990 the Italian government assigned an international committee to develop a plan to protect and preserve the Tower. The tower was shifting at least 1.2 mm per year so seven hundred ton ingots were applied as counterweights. Seventy tons of Earth was also removed from around the tower which caused it to right itself by nineteen inches. The Location of the Tower of Pisa is very beautiful. It is located in the Piazza dei Miracoli (Which is Italian for the Square of Miracles) along with three other monuments. The first monument located there is the Cathedral of Pisa, which dates back to the year 1064. It has Roman, Byzamine, and Moorish architectural styles…
