Abstract Our purpose is to investigate the properties of two kinds of power supplies. One is WINSTAR Switch-‐Mode AC/DC POWER ADAPTOR and the other is KDL-‐091000 50 HZ TECHNOLGY ADAPTOR. The experiment mainly focuses on mechanical parameters, electrical parameters and electromechanical parts. We use mechanical gauges to measure the mechanical parameter and use some basic electrical components like voltmeter and wares to get the electrical parameter. We find the voltage of Switch-‐mode adaptor do not equal to the figure printed in the Adaptor and present some laws between different voltage. By discussion we find the key factors that affect result is inner resistance. To make the result more scientific and precise, we measure the data for many times and calculate the average. By the experiment, we find the larger the voltage, the less the error. We also do the comparisons between these two devices.
Background information An switch-‐mode power supply (switching-‐mode power supply, SMPS, or switcher) is an electronic power supply that incorporates a switching regulator to convert electrical power
