Electricity Summary: Why Electricity Is Important To Our Life
Electricity is vital to our lives, but many people seem to be terrified when it comes to electricity because of the potential injuries sustained from an electric shock. Therefore, many people prefer to hire an electrician to do the job. Sometimes a very simple connection can be quite costly, like the installation of a light bulb. Well, why not try to learn how to do these simple connections by yourself. The importance of knowing these steps is that you save money and, time without depending on others to do the job. Building our home, I came across this electric situation; we hired a friend of ours that knows the job and did it at a reasonable price. Well, it came to my attention that this was the last time we should pay someone to do small …show more content…
Now we go back to the socket location to place the switch. The switch can be placed where it is most suitable for you, normally it is placed beside your door. Then, apply same process, peel wire ends for the switch. Place the wire below the screw head and make it hug the screw. Then, tighten the screw, so it holds the wire down, do the same for the other wire (a tip to note is that on the switch it does not matter which wire goes where). Lastly, screw the switch on the wall. Then, run that switch wire to the main wire that comes from the bulb and goes to the breaker box. Run the wire until it meets the main wire, it does not matter where they meet. Cut the main wire and peel all ends (by now you should have six ending wires [3 red and 3 black]). On the main wire, connect the two black wires again, screw a wire nut to them and place tape around it (that is negative power going to the bulb). Then you have 4 wires left: 2 coming from the switch (red and black) and two from the main switch (both red). Next, you connect the red wire coming from the switch to the red wire going to the breaker box and then you connect the black wire coming from the switch with the red wire that goes to the bulb. Place nuts and tape on all

    | In most cases the installation of a switch is fairly easy. Plug the switch in and allow it to boot up. Make sure that any device that you connect to the switch is turned off. When all the devices are connected, turn them on and in most cases they will be connected to the network. Sometimes special configuration will be needed, but in most simple installations the switch will work right away. Remember to not connect a device other than another connectivity device to the uplink port on the switch.…

INTRODUCTION Electricity is usually invisible. Except for lightning and sparks, you never see it in daily life. However, light bulbs and a magnetic compass can show you when something electrical is happening. By observing their behavior and making a few assumptions, you can begin forming ideas about electricity. This type of thinking is called “building a model”. INVESTIGATION ONE: WHAT IS NEEDED TO LIGHT A BULB? 1.1 Activity: Lighting bulbs in a loop Insert three D-cells into the battery holder (as in Figure 1.1), and insert two ROUND bulbs (not long bulbs) into a pair of sockets. Use three wires to connect the sockets to each other and to the two “terminals” of the battery holder: 1) the spring inside the case near the red spot, and 2) the metal post on the outside of the case near the blue spot. The bulbs should light and be of similar brightness. The battery, bulbs and wires now form a “closed loop”.…
