The patient form on the computer has all the patient information in it which helps when physicians are trying to access patient information and when it comes to the process of billing the insurance company. The benefit of the computerized patient record allows the insurance companies to have access to the patient confidential information which saves a bill going in the mail and having the chance of it ending up in the wrong place or even to the wrong person, which would cause these patients confidential information to be leased to others. “Electronic medical record systems improve the quality of patient care and decrease medical errors” in the article by Samuel J. Wang and many other authors. Again there are more benefits for computerized patient records then concerns. In my opinion I would say it’s a matter of time to get all the little concerns fixed but besides the concerns you can work around them and avoid some things that you shouldn’t do anyways in the medical field, such as sharing personal passwords with your coworkers. With having all these great benefits I feel that each office should have the opportunity of having computerized patient records other than paper because it does take less time other than filling out each patient paper record, it’s just a matter of searching the patient name in the database on the computer. Once you search that name their whole record pops up with their information for billing, employment information, and insurance information. It would save the office a lot of time filling out the paper work. I would personally say I would like to have computerized patient records because it would be easier to update the patient file in the database other than searching for the patient record in a filing cabinet, and it would also mean you would have more time to see more patients each day which will again help with the patient surveys and the patient satisfaction results.
