Emergency Medical Technician (Emt)
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) * Education/Training: * Have to have a GED or high school diploma; * Be in good physical condition; * Have a driver’s license; * Complete an approved emergency medical technician programs; and * Be able to work as a team * A lot of different EMT training levels; * The first level is EMT basic * The second level is EMT- intermediate training (requires 35-55 hours) * The most advanced level is EMT-Paramedic (lasts up to 2 years) * Responsibilities and Daily Activities * Operate equipment that monitors the heart, restarts the heart, and provides oxygen to patients. * Administer drugs under a physician's direction. * Drive ambulances to accident sites, following instructions from dispatchers. * Handle and move objects * Process information * Teach others * Provide acute care * Scene assessment * Emergency management * Equipment and vehicle maintenance
* Salary Range * In a city, about 35K a year * In the suburbs, about 45K a year
