Emotions and Feelings
Direction approach How to travel to Paris safe and cheap Finding safe and cheap means of travelling is an important and essential aspect for every traveler. Being one of the major tourism destinations Paris has many wonderful sights to visit and it would be great for every traveler to visit this fascinating city both in a cheap and safe way. There are several effective steps that every traveler has to follow while traveling to Paris and so choosing the means of transportation, buying a tour-package and keeping personal security will help you to enjoy your vacation in Paris both cheaply and safely. First, choose the safest means of transportation taking into account your personal fears. Flying is of course one of the safest modes of transport, but there are some people who have a fear of flying, and knowing this at a conscious level, is not enough for them. Those people may probably prefer travelling to Paris by car, which can be a great adventure. Whereas driving in Paris is not advisable and can be both dangerous and risky. Parking spaces are limited and traffic is dense, so driving may cause serious problems, especially for tourists. Paris’ underground train system is probably the best way to get around the city, for there are metro stations near nearly every place you could want to visit; besides it will be safe for those who have personal fears. The second essential step, which you have to take, is buying a relatively cheap tour-package proper to your budget. All inclusive tour packages include spending nights in luxurious hotels, which is not a must. You can have a night in hostels which are the cheapest way to go. Your tour package may also not include expensive excursions around Paris. You can look at everything in Paris for free. The metro will get you around the city rather cheap. Seriously your trip won’t suffer for not seeing one or two major attractions like the Louvre; instead, there are many museums, where you can see some of the greatest works of art in the world for free. Your tour package may leave out having meal at expensive hotels. Almost all restaurants and cafés offer menus with three course meal at a reasonable price. The final step to take is to keep your personal security. Paris as a big city has its crimes. You can face difficulties, crime and violence. Make sure to keep your money and passport in a safe place. The majority of thieves are pickpockets who take advantage of distracted tourists. Like any travel destination, you aren't familiar with your surroundings. Robberies often take place around train stations or at cafes crowded with tourists. Eager not to miss the sights, you can easily lose your spending money. Cases of fraud are increasing and tourists are preferred targets because they often carry more money and are less alert to the danger than residents. All of these steps are necessary to follow while traveling. So when planning for a holiday to Paris, ensure your trip with these safe and cheap travel methods. You will in fact enjoy your trip in that fantastic city, which “holds the key to your heart”1.(http://viajeshispanos.com/2012/03/02/paris-holds-the-key-to-your-heart/)

In our humanity, violence is a great flaw. Violence is the reason why we humans caused suffering to this planet and to each other. Greed, revenge and envy are 3 of the 7 deadly sins that are most of the time expressed through violence. But at the very beginning of the sins, we started it through our anger that we cannot control. For example: revenge is caused by anger, envy is jealousy and greed can be caused by fear. Fear is an emotion that is used as basic survival mechanism, but has also proven that it can lead to an act of violence. The Bet by Anton Chekhov, the Hobbyist by Fredric Brown and Lock and Key by Rush have shown great example that emotional human behavior is one the greatest flaw of humanity.…

Tim O’Brien’s “The Things They Carried” takes place in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Lt. Jimmy Cross and his men all carried, or humped, necessities for the war. Much of these necessities depended on standard operating procedure and their rank. O’Brian Writes “These men also carried near necessities like can openers, food rations, mosquito repellant, and water. Some of these necessities depended on the person. Ted Lavender carried tranquilizers because he was scared. Dave Jensen carried extra socks and foot powder to prevent trench foot. Mitchell Sanders carried condoms, and Rat Kelly carried comic books. Kiowa carried a bible, because he was a devoted Baptist and carried his grandfather’s hatchet” (117). Together the necessities and near necessities they carried for war were a burden for them, but it was not as heavy as the emotional burdens they carried.…

When reviewing Nathaniel Hawthorne's Tales, Edgar Allen Poe pronounced that the short story, if skillfully written, should deliver a single preconceived effect- an effect upon which incidents be fashioned to accommodate that effect. Edgar Allen Poe was indeed a skillful writer. His short story, "The Fall of the House of Usher" is a flawless example of a story in which all elements contribute to the delivery of a single emotional effect. Poe accomplishes this by achieving a perfect tone, developing suspense and unifying stylistic elements thereby meeting his own criteria. <br><br>In his pronouncement Poe also wrote that "In the whole composition there should be no word written, of which the tendency, direct or indirect, is not to the one pre-established design." Thus, in "The Fall of the House of Usher" Poe creates a perfect tone critical to the delivery of his preconceived effect. The senses of "insufferable gloom," "utter depression of soul" and " sinking, sickening of the heart" which pervade the narrator's spirit immediately establish the tone. The narrator's description of the scene as "dull," "dark," "bleak," "desolate" and "terrible" all function in communicating the tone. These concrete and denotative words ensure a clear and solid tone is conveyed to the reader thereby contributing to the overall effect of terror. The regular use or repetition of the words "dark," "gloomy" and "oppressive" in some form serves function to further define and emphasize a perfect tone. It also perceivable that Poe's choice in the narrator's role being the participant supports his intent to communicate consistent feelings; hence consistent tone. In order to strengthen his already established tone, Poe selectively uses imagery in scenes of terrible nature. The imagery created by the descriptive details of "the lofty and enshrouded figure of the lady Madeline of Usher" and the "blood upon her white robes… evidence of some bitter struggle upon every portion of her emaciated frame."…

Category analysis of emotion words is theory used to describe emotions; the study explains that words have been created to describe our emotions based on emotional experiences. Certain words such as love or hate can give you a distinct feeling depending on the situation. Johnson-Laird and Oatley conducted a large analysis of 590 English words that we use to express emotion verbally and found that there are numerous ways that our emotions can be expressed. In there analysis one of there concerns is that you can not tell if the word describing the emotions is being used subjectively (Deckers, 2010). The results from there analysis allowed them to classify the words that we use to describe our emotions into five categories: anger, happy, disgust, sadness and fear. In the study the participants were placed into one of the five categories in the grouped it showed that people generally do not categorize the words we use for emotions in the same manner. One participant categorized all the words with he was given 135 of then and put them all into only two categories and labeled them as positive or negative. As a statistical analysis it was found that people in general found there to be six categories: joy/happy, surprise, love, anger, fear, and sadness; these categories represented an emotion prototype (Deckers, 2010). As emotion prototype stands for the average or general meaning that all words have a common meaning. This analysis concluded that the five basic categories are only based on English terms (Deckers, 2010).…

    Motivation and Emotions

After twenty plus years, I returned to school to acquire my degree and further my education. My friends and family could not understand why I wanted to take time so much time out of my life to do this. They would tell me, “you already have an established career”. They could not understand what drove me to take this road. They felt I was missing out on life. So after reading this chapter which covered several distinct theories of motivation, I asked myself, where did the energy, the drive, or the direction come from? Being true to myself, the answer was, motivation that came from the social forces that education is required to keep moving up the corporate ladder. I want to be successful and be seen as a motivated person. I also want to prove to myself and others that I take both my education and my career very seriously. According to Maslow, nobody has ever reached the peak of the hierarchy of needs pyramid. We all may strive for it, and some may even get close, but no one has achieved full self-actualization. Self-actualization means a complete understanding of who you are, a sense of completeness, of being the best person you could possibly be. To have achieved this goal is to stop living, for what is there to strive for if you have learned everything about yourself, if you have experienced all that you can, and if there is nothing left for you to grow emotionally, intellectually, or spiritually. Throughout our lives, we work toward achieving the top of the pyramid, self actualization, or the realization of all of our potential. As we move up the pyramid, however, things get in the way which slow us down and often knocks us backward. Imagine in my own life, as I'm working toward the respect and recognition of my colleagues and suddenly finding myself out of work and homeless. Suddenly, my education is not that important anymore. I'm forced backward and can no longer focus my attention on my work or education,…
