Empire Strikes Back Vs Star Wars
Star Wars V The Empire Strikes Back

“Luke, I am your father.”- Darth Vader. Nobody can ever forget that jaw dropping, plot twisting quote from Star Wars V (The Empire Strikes Back). Star Wars V was made in 1980 and was one of the best movies in the Star Wars franchise getting a rating of 8.8/10 on the IMDB and winning an Oscar. Star Wars V was directed by Irvin Kershner, screenwritten by Leigh Brackett & Lawrence Kasdan, and had actors such as Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia). If I were to rate Star Wars V I’d rate it a 10/10. My rating somewhat biased because I was always an obsessive fan of Star Wars. My bias aside, Star Wars V was and still is a fantastic movie. All in all, it was a great movie with great direction and acting. The storyline is great and makes it hard to stop watching. Star Wars vs Star Trek is a rivalry that has been going on since 1977 when Star Wars released A New Hope in theaters. Although Trekkies seem to believe that Star Trek is better than Star Wars, they would be wrong. Star Wars The Force Awakens broke the box office record and has a net worth of $1.783 billion, while Star Trek’s highest net worth is only $282 million. Darth Vader is the greatest cinematic villain of all time, bar none. Star Trek's Khan was, in all fairness, one of the best as well. But a plastic-chested, Shakespeare-quoting Ricardo Montalban or venom-spewing Benedict Cumberbatch can't hold a lightsaber to Vader. Star Wars also has better weapons, Star Wars’ lightsaber, a pulsating beam of light that is a sword that slices through…

Flashback to the summer of 1977, the United States had just celebrated its bi-centennial, Jimmy Carter was in the White house, and the king of rock and roll was in his last days. A bright eyed and bushy tailed young filmmaker named George Lucas was about to launch his newly created project on the world, “Star Wars”. Lucas, not a pedigreed filmmaker by no means, is given the greenlight by 20th century Fox and the budget of 11 million dollars to film his creation. The film was released on Memorial Day weekend of that year, and we all know the rest is history.…

The story of America is the story of white imperialism. After the Civil War Radical Republicans set out to punish and colonize southern states. The North wished to create a satellite region, isolated politically but raped for its Negro votes and economic value. Steamrolling through southern politics with the help of Negros, scallywags and carpetbaggers, Radical Republicans instigated drastic economic change, as well as a political revolution caused by northern occupation in the south.…

Anakin and Padme’s story in Revenge of the Sith is akin to Romeo and Juliet’s story. In Romeo and Juliet their families are essentially warring with each other, because this is the case, Romeo and Juliet have to keep their love for each other a secret. Anakin has no biological family left, and Padme’s family has no quarrel with Anakin’s family, they are still both lovers who must keep their love for each other a secret, since Anakin is a Jedi and the Jedi Code states that “There is no passion [for others],” meaning there is no attachment to one another. This is the sacred law for the Jedi and if it is broken the punishments could range from simple embarrassment in front of one’s peers, expulsion from the order, to the most extreme, being stripped…

In the instructions for this job there was no specific indication that the names should be left in English. Given that the job was very short and the fact that names are many times translated (Los Juegos del Hambre, Juego de Tronos…) as well as the titles of films and art works in general (of course, with exceptions), I thought these were to be translated. I just left Star Wars because it is usually used in Spanish. However, if the names are not to be translated in this case, the two first QM's proposals are perfect:…

The first episode of Star Wars to ever be released, - A New Hope, - was a huge success. Directed by George Lucas, the princess-protecting tale takes a typical storyline and adds a pinch of the impractical to create a beautiful and magical world with a compelling plot line and relatable characters. The way that Star Wars delivers fantastic creatures and devices through an approachable human lens helps make it the success it is. There is a scene of A New Hope where Luke realises something bad could have happened to the Lars Family. He wants to get back to their house quickly, so he hops on his hovering vehicle and flies away.…

The idea of the monomyth can be mentioned in classic literature as well as in mono motion pictures. The definition Joseph Campbell gives of a hero deals with eight stages. These eight stages can be found in Beowulf in addition to Star Wars. Beowulf, the strongest of the people known as Geats, proclaimed that he would help get rid of the monster that was terrorizing the Danes. Star Wars', Luke Skywalker was a simple farm boy and became the greatest hero the galaxy had ever known. Luke was born during the chaos as the galaxy transitioned from Republic to the tyrannical Empire. Beowulf and Luke both had a boon, a timely blessing or benefit, from which they were given. The goal of the two heroes was to save their part of the world. Though they saved their part of the world successfully, they too reached a nadir. Although Beowulf and Star Wars are dissimilar stories, both hold many similarities.…

The film franchise of Star Wars has had an incalculable impact on society and culture. It's paved the way for modern movie trilogies (such as "Lord of the Rings", "The Matrix", et al.), embedded itself into popular culture, and changed the genre of science fiction. The main reason Star Wars is such a pertinent film franchise is due to its omnipresence. In 15 years, Americans will watch the Star Wars saga in narrative sequence (episodes I-VII and onward) because of how prevalent the storyline is in America's society.…

I think Star Wars is better than Star Trek. Why? It’s simple. Star Trek is for wimps! Yes, I said it. WIMPS! Star Trek is an old television show that is about a society traveling through outer space on the Starfleet Enterprise and takes place in the distant future. Not a lot happens and there isn’t a lot of action. In other words, there isn’t a lot of fighting and intensity. Star Wars is high intensity and loaded with actions! It is full of colorful characters and you watch it on the big screen. Just the way I like it.…
