“Employee of a company in a foreign Country”
When conducting a business in a foreign country you have to be able to understand the language and culture of the country because this can lead to lost opportunities. You have to pay closer attention to the differences and respect them the way we do things in America can be perceived as negative and disrespectful in China. It is very important to learn about the country you will be working in because you don’t want to be ignorant towards anyone’s country, customs, or beliefs, especially if u wants your business ventures to succeed. You avoid a company culture been offended by participating in workshop or a lecture about the culture of the country I would be working in. Do some research on the country by searching the web, reading some books, use a translator to help with breaking the language. As Americans we know how to say things without it haven’t a company offended. Not been able to understand what the other person is saying can lead to all sorts of misunderstanding that can harm our relationship with your business partners. Been open- minded is and dispensable minimum requirement. Look for a confident, a role model who deals well with the local people, a mentor, or a coach in that country. Beware that you cannot meet’s everybody’s expectations (including your own) at all times. You will have to have a lot of patience learn their behaviors, but don’t indulge in them. For example, American culture, characteristics of assertive is seen as positive, where as in Asian cultures, it may be seen as disruptive. Eye contact is a good sign of honesty and showing a person you have their attention but in another country such as Asia it is a sign of
