Ender’s Game is a science fiction novel – militarily based, where the people are preparing for another invasion by extraterrestrial insectoid-like species. The book emphasizes that children are self-renewing, while being seen as ornery in their decisions and actions, all the while the lives of children are at every point contrasted with the adults around them. The novel takes place in the future and transitions through five completely different locations: North Carolina, Battle School, Fairyland, Eros, and The colony. The novel begins on earth, with scenes from school and the home of the Wiggin’s. There was barely any attention given to the time spent on earth. For instance, there was no name given for the city in North Carolina. The shuttle ride introduced Ender to the environment of space, where he learned to change his perspective in response to his setting. The sunlight, levels of gravity and the curve of the ground was unfamiliar to Ender; given time he fell to love Earth for the short time he spent there, post-Battle School. Shortly after his return, he goes to Command School on Eros, that the Bugger’s had built prior to the overthrow. The ceilings are extremely low, passages are narrow, the floor slopes downward, and the lower gravity is discomforting. Ender spends a good amount of time in the stimulation room, where it turns out he is actually commanding the fleets. After his success, he leaves for the first human colony on a former bugger world, which becomes: Ender’s World. While on the search for another group of colonists, he realized that the landscape mimicked a fantasy game that he had played in Battle School, where the buggers communicated with Ender and ironically lead him to their hive
