ENGLISH ASL- HUMOUR &WISDOM
Humour and Wisdom
A very good morning respected sir/mam. Today I, Mridula Bala of class IX-A am going to speak on the topic Humour and Wisdom. Firstly what is humour and what is wisdom?? Humour is the ability to laugh at ourselves – to brighten any situation or conversation by finding the light, quirky dimensions. Humor helps us to forgive or to admit our own errors. It makes hard times less heavy. Humour is important in our lives. Wisdom means knowledge and the presence of mind. Both combine to form wisdom. It helps us to be practical and sensible in the worst of situations. Simply it can be defined as When we make someone laugh, it is humour and when we make someone understand with our knowledge, it is wisdom.
Humour is that which tickles the heart and wisdom is the one which challenges the mind. Hence humour, combined with wisdom works wonders. Humour takes people away from their present world conflict, worries and stress to the world of happiness. When people laugh, then the muscles relaxes, body absorbs more oxygen and as a result whole body and mind relaxes. Humour when combined with wisdom propels the environment to a different level. People become more receptive to ideas and concept and accept it without any contradiction. By cultivating humor, we are letting go of other emotions like bitterness, resentment, or anger. Wisdom foresees traits like: perfection, completion, wholeness, simplicity, justice, honesty, reality, self-sufficiency in the personality of a person.

Sarah states that laughter is beneficial to health because it relieves stress and helps one socially. Information from another article Laughter is the Best Medicine concurs with what is being said. She gives physical and mental effects of laughter such as decreased risk of heart attack, increase pain tolerance, increased intelligence, production of antibodies and protective cells that fight off disease and infections. Humor is all about a person making an amusing observation that in result creates laughter and provides entertainment for the audience. In the book titled Status Anxiety by Alain de Botton, the author makes a statement that the role of humor in society is to allow people to say things that other people cannot or will not say because of their role in the community. I agree with de Botton’s statement because humor secretly allows people to get a message across without having to worry about others looking down upon you because of what you said, as well as providing people with more awareness of the wrongdoing in society by making them easier to understand through the use of humor.…
