How do you know when a woman is about to say something smart? ... When she starts her sentence with ‘A man once told me’. The irony of this joke is not lost as we begin a new century with the implication that women are perceived as weak and are treated appallingly by men. Women have always been the underdogs when it comes to men with the statistical fact that a women in the same job role as a man would be paid less. We’re supposed to be living in a society where gender and race shouldn’t be discriminated, but this is our reality. The visual text encourages the viewer to go and watch the film, which is advertised on the Internet because it reaches a wider variety of people as technology is becoming increasingly popular in our contemporary society.
