The speech I chose was on September 9, 1997 from Queen Elizabeth II after Princess Diana’s death . The speech was more of an informal speech of her willingness to open herself up to the people of England during this great tragedy. The speech was effective in giving the queen a chance to show her compassion during the mourning of Princess Diana and this softened her image to the British people. The speech was something the public would not have been familiar with. The British thought Queen Elizabeth had an estranged relationship with the princess. I didn’t see any research in this speech. I do believe it was pressure that drove the queen to a public speech.

In this case a speech was much more effective in getting

Throughout the book Speak Melinda had many topics in each of her many passages. These passages help us find out what type of a person Melinda is and what her character is all about. The entire book is narrated by Melinda. In the beginning we find out that she busted a party by calling the cops during the summer right before high school. Everyone thought she was a rat. Little do we know is that she never spoken up that at the party Andy Evans raped Melinda. During her freshman year nobody likes her and she had no friends. We do not understand anything until half way through the book which makes this book a mystery. Each of the passages reveal something and we find more and more out about Melinda as the book goes on. Some passages were more important than others. I believe that the most important passage in Speak is “Giving Thanks”. I believe that “Giving Thanks” is the most important passage in the book because we find many things out about Melinda and her family’s relationship. In the beginning of the passage Melinda says how her mother is going to work as usual and that her father was going to order pizza, for Thanksgiving. She wakes up the next morning and noticed that her mother didn’t leave yet and her mother was making a Thanksgiving meal. Unfortunately things had gone wrong and they had to get rid of the turkey. Her father tried making soup which was awful apparently. At the end of the passage Melinda was correct; they were going to order a pizza. And that was what they did. The writer tries to explain in this passage is that Melinda and her parents do not have the greatest relationship and this passage reveals a lot that her life in ways is predictable. I chose this passage because it was interesting to me that Melinda had predicted the whole day which didn’t even happen yet. She ended up having pizza on Thanksgiving which isn’t the greatest thing to eat on Thanksgiving. This passage was very ironic since Thanksgiving is about giving thanks. In ways this…

For boys who have passed by or through the Middle School this week you will have noticed that the precinct was awash with the colour orange in the form of balloons and banners. The boys in Year 8 will, I hope, be able to tell you that this display of orange was to mark Harmony Day, an event organised by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship. It is aimed at celebrating our cultural diversity and promoting tolerance and respect for racial difference.…

Ronald Reagan’s Address to the Nation on the Challenger is a great example of good public speaking. Reagan uses great language throughout the speech and puts people in a better mood about a very tragic event in American history. Throughout the speech he addresses the majority of the population and thanks people who were involved in helping the space shuttle reach space. His use of all these elements is why I personally love this speech and think it is a great speech for anyone to…

Following this further, “Speech Before Her Troops” is the most motivation speech because the queen is willing to protect her people, country, and reign. Her country, now attacked by the enemy, (Parma or Spain) she cannot stand this and will fight back. “Let tyrants fear, I have always so behaved myself that, under God, I have placed my chiefest strength and safeguard in the loyal hearts and good-will of my subjects; and therefore I am come amongst you, at this time, not for my recreation or sport, but being resolved, in the midst and heat of the battle, to live or die amongst you all;…

To succeed in my task, I used my existing knowledge of English grammar, syntax and vocabulary to explain a subject trough a video. My knowledge of English allowed me to make sure that there were very few mistakes in my video so the target audience (future secondary 5 students) would be able to understand the relayed information. I used my knowledge gained in Art class about colours and what attracts the eye to make my video as visually interesting as possible. I also used what I learned in last year’s interdisciplinary project on WWII to better understand the context in which the program. What I knew of the economic crisis of 1929, WWI and WWII, learned in secondary 4 history class, also helped me understand the political, social and economical…
