REPORT ON INTER CLASS PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION 2011
INTRODUCTION
This year our school English Language Panel has carried out a public speaking competition as one of the panel programmes. This competition is the 5th since 2007. The competition was participated by two representatives from each class. Through public speaking competitions it is hoped that awareness is created among students on the importance of upgrading themselves in English language.It would also serve as a catalyst for students to start using and learning English in a more serious manner.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF PROGRAMME The aims of the programme are to build up pupils’ self confidence in voicing out their opinion publicly as well as to reinforce their command of the English language. The objectives of the programme are as follows: 1. To inculcate interest in the English language among the pupils. 2. To practice self discipline in acquiring essential language skills. 3. To nurture positive attitude towards given task among the pupils. 4. To produce the most qualified participants to represent our school in any competition of the same nature. 5. To bring glory to our school when competing at a higher level such as district, division, state, or national level.
DURATION OF PROGRAMMES The programme was carried out for the whole month of April 2011. Thus, April was known as Public Speaking Month.
TARGET GROUP This programme was targeting the pupils in Level 2. At this level the pupils are expected to have gained considerable knowledge and brave enough to come out to speak in public. There were 24 participants took part in the
