But at what cost is America willing to go to, to help these countries? The forward presence and the willing to help have been very beneficial to the United States of creating and reaffirming alliances around the world, but has also created many issues at home. America is known for its strong military that is on constant patrol, like a neighborhood watches roving its streets keeping them safe. But every military asset that is put in positions around the world is costing the tax payers of America money. America has amassed a huge national deficit that has threatened the government to shutdown, meaning that the very same people that are going in harm’s way to help create democracy or provide humanitarian aid, would lose money.
