Nowadays, it’s not only the environmentalists but it seems to be everyone’s call to “Save mother nature” Why? It is because we are already experiencing the hazards of environmental destruction. Typhoons, floods, earthquakes happen anywhere anytime and to anybody. Treasured possessions earned for years may just vanish in just a wink of an eye.
Who is to blame with this disastrous environmental dilemma? Well, we could find the answer on the mirror. If the mirror could just speak it will tell you…”You are looking at the most dangerous living organism in the ecosystem… MAN”. Man, who is supposed to be the caretaker of the entire biosphere has become the most destructive living organism in the ecosystem. Thus, we should take a quantum leap before it’s too late. Let us all become environmental stewards in our simple way.
Environmental Stewardship in its real essence is the comprehensive understanding and effective management of critical environmental risks and opportunities related to climate change, waste management, biodiversity protection and ecosystem services. The environmental challenges we face be they related to climate change or biodiversity – are growing in scale and complexity.
Being with the realm of the academe, we are very fortunate enough to have a dual role in the preservation of our environment. As a member of the academic world, we are given an extra opportunity to disseminate the great accountability, risks and challenges as regards environmental issues.
