This is an open assignment, which allows you to focus on an area of interest of the management of Wenderholm (e.g. vegetation management, pest management, introduction of birds, estuarine management, etc). Your report should be in the style of a report to the
Auckland Council. This entails that you write formally for a general audience, however you are a scientist therefore must make reference to appropriate scientific literature.
Some useful questions that could help focus your assignments are:
What are the management goals in your chosen area?
Who are the stakeholders/interested parties?
Are these appropriate goals?
Are the outcomes of these goals measureable?
What are current management practices?
Are these meeting the stated goals?
Are there examples from elsewhere that could be used to better meet the goals?
What are the limiting factors within the park management?
Do the plans cater for overarching goals for the regional park network?
While these are useful questions to help you evaluate the management plan, remember to structure your report as per the marking schedule. Also remember to factor in the various uses of the park and financial
