Compare and Contrast Music and Noise.
Music waves have a regular pattern while those of noise are random and irregular. Noise lacks a pleasing quality, definite pitch, rhythm and pattern while music produces a pleasing sound and has an interesting beat.
Music is the art of arranging and combining sounds in order to create a harmonious melody while noise is an unwanted sound that is usually very loud and meaningless.
Why do we like music and avoid sound?
We like music because it produces pleasing sounds and has an interesting beat. On the other hand, we avoid noise because it lacks pleasing sound, quality, definite pitch, rhythm and pattern.
Music is a panacea.
If one is stressed out constantly and doesn't learn methods to reduce stress (such as Yoga, Tai Chi, soft music, peaceful places, holidays to relax, hobbies such as getting back to nature) then the constant stress attacks the immune system. Music is certainly relaxing, so, to a point yes, music can stave off some diseases.
Music Therapy can be used to treat a variety of disorders including cognitive development, improving motor skills, social development, and other mental illness. Music Therapy is used in conjunction with other treatments.
Noise can threaten the health of an individual.
Noise is generally regarded as unwanted sound and a subtle pollutant which can threaten the health or well-being of an individual. Noise pollution is brought about by loud sounds that are harmful to one’s hearing, interfere with one’s ability to work, concentrate, relax and sleep or make one feel stressed.
