In Ernest Hemingway’s short story, Winner Take Nothing, the little boy woke up sick, worried about how high his fever was, and was characterized by the author. He didn't know what to do about it. He thought he was dying. Don't ever over think things. It might just happen. Schatz woke up sick. He couldn't go to school so a doctor came by and checked his temperature. It was 102 degrees. He father read a story to him to try to calm him but noticed it wasn't working. Schatz was worried. Schatz' father was very calm about the situation.
