They have a good reputation in the Houston community, and are known for their good food. Considering that they do not advertise in any kind of media, most of their business is through word of mouth, and that says something to the quality of their product. This is also apparent in the interview where the General Manager mentioned that the prices had gone up on some of the key ingredients for certain plates, however they did not compromise on quality and continued buying those same ingredients. The location and well-design of the building is another strength. The area has a lot of traffic and is located in a nice area. Free valet parking is available, this is a real strength because the location’s parking lot is very limited and Escalante’s is the only business that offers valet in the plaza. The internet is quickly becoming a single database with nearly everything connected. People use social media on their home computers, cellphones and everything in between. Nearly all people from every age chronicle their daily lives on social media. There is a big payout for businesses who have mastered the gigantic, ever expanding social media market. Social media is used to capture the many facets of everyday life and one event that happens every day is the consumption of food. Many people go to restaurants to treat themselves or their families to something different and hopefully a nicer experience than the norm. Of course on a nice, rewarding night out, privileged customers will want to show off their finely decorated entrée and desserts on popular image hosting websites. The Escalante’s restaurant can really capitalize on this, because they already take the time to make food exceptional, they can create a link between their craft, their customers and their business. When patrons post images of the food or “check-in” on social media, it also creates tags that allows others to portal to that tag’s home page. Friends and family will be able to view the image of the exquisite enchiladas, but now they will also be able to click through to the restaurant’s page.
