War can make a man forget about other things going on in life and just focus on the war. He wasn’t brave when he left the battle. He wasn’t brave when he lied about his wounds when asked what happened. When he comes back to war for the first time is when he first become courageous. When he runs around with the flag in his hands is also an act of bravery. In the beginning of the book I asked myself, “Would his mother be proud of him leaving the war?” I knew that she wouldn’t because that makes him a coward. He went to war which was very brave of him but he regretted it once it was time to fight. I know now that his mother would be very proud of him and how far along he has came on his journey of war. She would be very proud to have a brave son that is willing to fight for his army and for his…

She helped many other slaves like herself escape to freedom. Harriet was a strong woman who was filled with determination, strength, passion, and patience. She was a true hero who wanted to serve people and she was extremely brave for her actions of freeing so many slaves. Freedom Harriet Tubman was a brave woman, she managed to take eleven slaves to Canada, with no one noticing anything. She also did something that was surprising, she took the gun that she had with her to make a slave stay or to die, "We got to go free or die." She didn't allowed a slave to go back while they were traveling because someone might figured that he/she were returning from the running slaves and might have to answer questions. She traveled to differents places to stay like Thomas Garret's house in Wilmington, Delaware. She wanted to get to Canada to have a chance to feel what it would be like to be free. She painted pictures of what she thought Canada would be like, that shows she wanted to be free. In the couples of houses she stopped to get food and to get warm, I believe the persons that owned the houses agreed that they should be free, but they were too afraid to make a move. At the start of the story they were searching for Moses who they thought it was a man, which it was not it was Harriet Tubman, who wanted to run off slaves. The slaves at the story were patience. Harriet had promised them food, and shelter, when they got to the first stop in the farmhouse the man said they were a lot of slaves and that it was not safe, because the farmhouse had been searched a week ago before they arrived there, so they didn't had what she had promised them. The slaves didn't screamed at her or complained. When they arrived to Canada I think that even though…

Sojourner Truth’s speech, “Aint I a Woman,” is an in depth, personal account of slave life and the cycle of self-discovery by which Truth acknowledges the ills and dynamics of race, class and gender have upon an African American woman living in America. She intersects axes of analysis and questions the dominant image of femininity which was limited to the most elite, white women in society at that time. Throughout the speech, Truth explains the heavy burdens black women slaves are forced to carry on a day to day basis. The oppression she endures is conveyed to the reader through firsthand accounts given by Truth. The inhumane actions of the oppressors towards African American women reveals the cruelty many white males, predominately slaveholders in the 19th century possessed and how their unjust behavior contributed to Truth’s underlying motivation to escape the struggles of the south and seek liberty.…

Welcome to the 18th and 19th century, were type machines were invented, where wigs and hats were fashionable and where white posh men and women lived the glamour’s life...but was on the other side? What was the other story? In the 18th and 19th century slavery was introduced to injustice. Where black people were humiliated and abused just because of their skin colour, how much longer would people endure this injustice? Brave, intelligent and Courageous? Those three words tell a story that no other can. The one she went through, the one all black people were forced to go through, some dangerous others horrifying, her name was Harriet Tubman. Well let’s just say she didn’t have a choice and had to face and endure danger and pain. Something that no ‘human being’ should go through, something that doesn’t even exist in nightmare...but that was what Harriet Tubman had to face, and I don’t mean in her dreams...this was reality, this was real. Harriet Tubman, in my eyes changed society today because of what she believed and experienced. Despite her age, she was very passionate and ambitious. She never gave up in her rights for freedom or regretted on how her family raised her. But one thing she knew was to keep on fighting. She knew what was going on around her and why she was locked up from society. She was not educated but her intelligence was unexpected, as she never had an education but she worked long hard hours on the field since she was a young girl.…
