Ways that Vietnamese and American are different are their ways of showing affection and greeting. When showing endearment in America, it is acceptable to touch your lady in public, as in holding hands or kissing. While for Vietnamese, it is an insult to them. Vietnamese also do not allow kissing in front of children what so ever. Vietnamese also use spoons and chopsticks while American’s use a Knife, spoon, and fork. In the American homes, the plate get passed around the table, but in the Vietnamese home, the elderly get to get their food first, which is set in the middle, and they kids wait patiently till everyone else has gotten their food.
The last way that Vietnamese are different from American’s is their housing lives. In homes of American’s they have a place for children to play, but for Vietnamese the kids play outside in the cities or streets because most people ride bikes and motorcycles, so there is not as big of a chance of them getting hit. Also, men and women sleep in the same bed in America but in Vietnam, the opposite sex do not share the same bed unless you are a mother then you sleep with your child.
In conclusion, Vietnamese culture is unique and different from American culture. Although they have their differences, it’s not all entirely different; they have their similarities also.
