African Americans have struggled throughout history. This struggle has written upon by authors such as Fredrick Douglass, MLK, Malcolm X and Barack Obama. Their struggle has been an experience that not all of us know. This project is about their struggling lives.
Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta Georgia. From a young age, he realized the struggles that African Americans had. He became a pastor at his father’s church in 1947. There he talked about his struggles. Later, he became involved with the civil rights movement. He wrote about his experiences in books such as I Have A Dream and Why We Can’t Wait.
Malcolm X was born on May 19, 1925 and his original name was Malcolm Little. His mother Louise was homemaker who had eight children and his father Earl was a Baptist minister who was murdered by the KKK and had to relocate their home twice before Malcolm’s fourth birthday. Malcolm’s father Earl, had his body found the railroad and the police thought this was an accident, but the KKK were behind it. Louise was traumatized and fell into emotional depression and was brought into a mental institution where the rest of her children were taken to the orphanage. As Malcolm grew up, he and his long-time friend, Jarvis (nicknamed Shorty), moved back to Boston where they were arrested for burglary charges. He was born on August 4,1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Barak Obama was raised by his grandparents. He went to school called Punahou school, private college preparatory school, Honolulu, Hawaii (age 11-17 or 18). They have told about their experiences and how they said that society was not as perfect as it seem to some. These authors have shaped society today as we know
