Essay On Beethoven Fifth Symphony

Beethoven symphony No.6 in F major, Op.68, also called “Pastoral Symphony”, is one of only two symphonies that composer intentionally named. Just like the title, it is a fabulous masterpiece which describes a picture of nature and people’s feeling towards the life in the countryside which fill with peace, hope, and love. Beethoven wrote in his sketchbook “recollections of country life...more an expression of feeling than of painting”.If people describe his Fifth symphony is dark or driven, Sixth symphony is more like someone walks down a countryside road under the sunshine, enjoy the fresh air and listen to various sounds come from the nature. He described himself “No one can love the country as much as I do”, his love for nature inspired him to create this symphony which became an expression of innermost feeling and everyone can feel it from his music. The first movement(Allegro ma non troppo ) with movement in 2/4 meter. It opens with warm, calm melody, the main and colorful melody was basically introduced by violin, cello, flute, and oboe. The pleasant melody shows the expectation of rustic life and was repeated in a peaceful way without too many decorations.
By using crescendo and decrescendo, it not only show about whether the volume is loud or not, it also shows the signal of ending for each piece and expectations about new beginnings.
