For example, they could be used to be sure the police officer is doing their civil duty, and not being a symbol of fear. There have been many situations where the media has shown cases of officers misusing their equipment, hurting people with said equipment, being seen as prejudiced towards certain groups and ethnicities, and even murdering people that had no reason to die. If we cannot observe our police officers, then maybe we do not know 100% about what they do. It would also keep police accountable for their conduct; whether it is appropriate or inappropriate. There have been many cases, such as Ferguson and Baltimore, where there were no surveillance systems equipped on the police officers, leaving the public unsure of what actually happened. Finally, it would show a more human side of policing. Today, the world has been corrupted by social media, where the public can misuse shown footage and make it seem like something that it isn’t. Such as, a crime that was committed by someone could be edited to make the police officer’s look like monsters, although with body cameras, such events could not be edited. Such equipment can be a necessity to our society; not only for legal purposes, but for our state of mind. If we cannot be sure of what our police officers are really doing, how can we trust them to serve and
